New Zealand coast watchers executed by the Japanese
On the 15th of

October 1942 17 soldiers,
and 5 civilian coast
watchers were captured and
executed by the Japanese
soldiers. The were beheaded
after an American Air
Strike Raid. The civilians
captured were given military
rank in 1944.
